Some folks ask us what is the difference between the RAPTOR and other electric – assist trikes on the market that cost about $1,000.00? Well, let’s take a look at one of these (and they all look alike). We like to call them Granny Trikes! All of them require professional assembly!
What strikes us first is that these $1,000.00 trikes look like overgrown little kid’s tricycles, which is what they really are! They are the result of taking the conventional child’s trike and blowing it up in scale to accommodate an adult rider. Nothing wrong with that – except it’s not a very creative approach. These trikes typically feature a 450 W. belt – driven motor which claims have a range of 15 miles on level ground. Top speed is advertised as 8 MPH but don’t try to get this on hills!
Next, let’s look at the brakes, which on most of these models is a rear coaster brake.. Oh - they also throw in what is called an “extra large” comfy seat. Does it look any different than a regular bicycle seat to you?
WHY ARE RAPTORS DIFFERENT?
First of all, the RAPTOR has been designed & engineered from the point of view of the adult Baby Boomer generation. Far from being just a large scale version of your first tricycle, this product is conceived to fit an adult lifestyle! From the semi - recumbent frame design to the full front & rear suspension this is a real Trike for real recreation / retirement use. Yes you can go 25 miles on a dual battery charge, but you can do it on steep hills, not just on level ground.
Our motor is an 800W. DC 24 V brushed motor with rear-drive and incorporates a rear drive Differential which allows both rear wheels be powered independently. We add a rear axle Drum brake and front hydraulic Disk brake for safer stopping. Our new full – featured seat is custom designed to fit our Trike and truly is wide, comfortable, and adjustable to fit different leg lengths. The RAPTOR has been tested on the Red Rock Scenic Loop here in Red Rock Canyon, Nevada and performs great. We challenge the Granny Trikes to try this test anytime – we’ll even buy lunch too if they make it to the top? Of course we could always tow them with a RAPTOR!

HOW IS RAPTOR SHIPPED?
We ship fully assembled at the factory. Just take it out of the box, flip the seat to its upright position and turn the key switch on. Batteries are already charged -you are ready to ride!
ANY OTHER POWER OPTIONS?
Yes, unlike other less expensive electric trikes, the Raptor has been designed to allow you to add improved power packs as we develop them. The latest is a new Lithium Iron Phosphate battery back which is 1/3 the weight of the standard Lead Acid Batteries that come on the RAPTOR. This new battery pack is a “drop-in” replacement for the original batteries and will double the range on your new RAPTOR while charging in 2-hours - or 20 minutes with the Speed Charger option. Finally the new LiFeBATT pack offers 1,500 – 2000 life cycles compared with the 300 life cycles which is standard with Lead Acid batteries.
